Covid-19 Document

Dear ATKV Client

With reference to the steps that President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on 15 March to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in South Africa, the ATKV resorts undertake to act as responsible South African citizens and ensure you that all visitors and travellers at our resorts will also follow the President’s requests and guidelines. The ATKV resorts appreciate your unconditional support and that you choose our resorts as your preferred holiday destination. We would like to request that our guests take notice of the message below.

The ATKV’s management is constantly monitoring the information made available by the World Health Organization.

COVID-19

  • The virus spreads through drop contamination. The most effective way to avoid contamination is therefore to avoid close personal contact with sick and possibly contaminated people. Persons with compromised immune systems are particularly vulnerable and have to be very careful.
  • The situation is constantly changing. The Department of Health and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NCID) will keep the public updated on the latest developments. It is every person’s responsibility to stay on top of this, to not spread unconfirmed rumours and to take the necessary precautions.
  • In the event of an outbreak, it is imperative that people do not panic and that everyone cooperates fully in order to prevent further spread of the disease.

SYMPTOMS

The symptoms include typical cold symptoms, such as headache, fever, respiratory problems and coughing.

DOS AND DON’TS

  • If you suspect that you are contaminated, don’t go to see a doctor or visit a clinic or hospital without prior notice. You can unknowingly and unnecessarily expose health workers and others (including sick people) to the virus. Firstly phone the doctor, clinic or hospital and let them know that you are sick, so that they can prepare to receive you safely and effectively.
  • Clients fearing that they are already contaminated should contact their local medical practitioner to get further instructions.
  • Regularly wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. If you are worried, consider buying a hand sanitiser with a minimum alcohol content of 70% for use when you leave the house.
  • Cover your mouth with a piece of cloth or your elbow when you cough or sneeze. Try not to contaminate any surfaces with your bodily fluids.
  • It is strongly recommended that you get vaccinated against the flu (the 2020 vaccine will be available soon) and pneumococcal infections (if indicated for you). It will relieve the burden on the health care system and protect your ability to work, and it can prevent that you are identified as a potential COVID-19 case. The most important is that it can help prevent illness in general – not only COVID-19.

CANCELLATION POLICY AND BOOKINGS PROCESS:

Given that there is not currently a domestic travel ban, our resorts will stay open and operational. Guests are therefore welcome to make bookings online, phone the chosen resort directly or contact our agents at the ATKV Central Bookings Office.

We would like to encourage guests who cancel their bookings to rather consider moving their bookings to later in the year. We will comply with the full rand amount of your booking and will therefore refund the difference to you if you move to a cheaper time of the year. If you move to a period when the tariffs are higher, you only have to pay the difference.

We will, however, until further notice, not be able to accept group bookings of more than 100 people.

Please note that our existing cancellation policy applies and can be found on the following link: https://www.atkvoorde.co.za/bepalings-en-voorwaardes/. The cancellation policy applies to all existing bookings. Refunds on cancellations will be done according to the cancellation policy.

For any booking made from 23 March 2020 for outside of long weekends and school holidays, the deposit policy will be amended so that the deposit will only be payable 14 days before the arrival date. Full payment of outstanding amounts will still be required on the arrival date.

WHEN YOU BOOK:

The safety and health of our guests and staff is our number one priority. If you do decide to visit our resorts during this period, we want to assure you that our staff is consciously and carefully applying high hygiene and safety standards:

  • Additional staff will be appointed with regard to cleaning services in ablution facilities to ensure cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Alcohol-based hand rub will be made available at the receptions, shops and restaurants.
  • Public areas will also enjoy more attention.
  • The staff’s health will also be monitored daily.

DURING YOUR VISIT:

During your visit, we would like to request that guests keep in mind/apply the following:

  • Avoid physical contact with other guests as far as possible.
  • We suggest that guests refrain from the traditional handshake or greeting with a kiss for the time being.
  • We suggest that families spend more quality time together with activities such as walking trails or board games inside the unit to avoid the gathering of larger groups around the swimming pools. You can still enjoy the pools, but keep your visits to the pool between 30-45 minutes.
  • Please allow other guests their personal space.
  • Please pay close attention to your personal hygiene.

ENTERTAINMENT OFFERING

Given the guidelines around groups of more than 100 people, it has been decided that the entertainment offering over March and April has to be amended drastically. This means that guest artists’ performances will not take place, and neither will any entertainment activities where physical contact or large groups of people is possible.

For guests who paid the entertainment fee, the value of the entertainment fee paid will be given in coupons that can be used at the resort’s Koswerf, the shop (the latter use of coupons at shops does not include ATKV Hartenbos), and the petrol station at ATKV Eiland Spa.

PREFERENTIAL BOOKINGS

We would like to reassure our members that the dates of preferential bookings will remain unchanged.
