On 9 April 2020, during the most recent presidential address where President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke to South Africans about the latest news and developments around the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced that the official lockdown, which has already been in place since 26 March, will be extended. The extension of 14 days means that the lockdown will now only be lifted at midnight on 30 April.

Ex-railway man celebrates 90th with the ATKV
He survived two wars, saw the birth and end of apartheid, and now, at the start of a new decade, the 90-year old uncle Johan van Deventer is a proud member of the ATKV. This die-hard ex-railway man from Nigel, to the east of Johannesburg, was born on 8 February 1930.

Nowadays you will see him rubbing shoulders with actors like Tom Hanks, film directors like Michael Bay or in a super hero outfit showing The Flash a thing or two as The Thinker in die TV series with the same name.
A 21-day national lockdown has been declared
The lockdown will begin on the evening of Thursday 26 March 2020 at 23:59.
The lockdown will remain in force for 21 days.
All South Africans will have to stay at home until midnight on Thursday 16 April 2020.
